Our hand-crafted 'open' size Chain Maille Vest just leveled up!   A predictable, breathable weighted hug — is now longer, heavier, and more versatile.  Multi-use wearable sensory support by design: vest, shawl, scarf, lap or hand weight & when not worn - a large sensory fidget. 

An open-weave stainless steel sensory vest designed to provide consistent, grounding pressure without heat or restriction. It is an open design, meaning it fits any size.   Hand-crafted extended in length for greater coverage, versatility, and comfort, wether worn under or over your clothes. 

These are best described as a predictable weighted 'hug'.  Might look a little 'strange' in photos but we promise the support they provide is, for most, a game changer.  Gentle pressure though the shoulders and both back and front is incredibly 'comforting' to most.   Can be layered in multiples, to increase the weighted input.  

This is the evolved version of our original Chainmail Sensory Vest. Still hand-crafted. Still open, breathable, and flexible. Now longer, heavier, and significantly more versatile, based directly on community feedback.

Taking 4 days to craft, using high-grade stainless steel links, this piece is designed to drape rather than restrict. The open weave allows airflow and movement, keeping the body cool and regulated — unlike traditional weighted products that trap heat.

Although it is called a vest, this is not a fixed garment. It is a modular weighted sensory support that can be worn, rotated, folded, or draped depending on the body and the moment.

Many people describe the sensation as a predictable, gentle hug — not because it squeezes, but because it provides 360 sensory feedback without any surprises like human hugs can be!  For many hugs can be challenging as you dont know how ard the hug wll be, how close the person will come into the hug and what other sensory challenges might also accompany the hug.   This chain maille vest provides a 'gentle hug' that is consistent and, for most incredibly comforting.  It provides gentle pressure & if worn on the skin, a cooling sensation.  We have even had people burst into tears when putting them on in response to the comfort it provides them.  Some do use them for D & D, cos play and other similar events.  

The gentle 'tinkling' sound, the scrunchy texture & cool to touch of the stainless steel make for an awesome fidget and sensory tool.   Drape over the shoulders, in the lap or lay it flat on a surface and using your fingers,  move in a range of directions to form mesmerising patterns & movement.  Great for wearing while at the computer or sitting watching TV.  Many use as an outer garment.

Choosing the right fit

This is not a compression garment and not sized like clothing. It is designed to adapt to the body rather than force the body to adapt to it. Weighted products are highly individual. As a general guide, many professionals recommend staying under approximately 10% of body weight, particularly when layering.

Is this for you?

This may be a great fit if you seek deep pressure but find traditional weighted garments too hot or restrictive; prefer predictable sensory input; enjoy cool, tactile materials; or use lap and neck weights for regulation.

This may not be the right fit if you strongly dislike metal textures, prefer soft compression garments, want something subtle or lightweight, or are buying for unsupervised use by children.

Recommended for 14+  - older teens and adults. Not suitable for unsupervised use by children. Not suitable for individuals who may pull forcefully at the neck area. Always use weighted products in ways that feel safe and supportive. Discontinue use if damaged. Recommended for 14 plus years of age and not suitable for those who may become diregulated when using as it can pose a choking hazard if used inappropriately.  Children must be supervised at all times.  Not suitable for someone who is likely to pull at the chain around neck area.
