It is a soothing musical instrument that anyone can play as soon as they pick it up. It is tuned to the Pentatonic Scale of C. The Pentatonic Scale is the scale of all the black notes on a piano - or for those with some musical knowledge, notes 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 of the major scale.
Your Mini Tongue Drum comes with one mallet to play. It has 8 notes - C, D, E, G, A and C5 (an octave above the first C, which is C4, or middle C on a piano).
Think of the mini tongue drum like a musical stress ball. These make a great sensory space tool & music therapy instrument. It's compact, lightweight & needs absolutely NO musical training. It can assist with hand / eye co-ordination along with sound.

The tone rings for around 1 to 2 seconds depending on how hard you hit it. Hitting it with a softer mallet than the one provided will mellow the tone and the volume a little.
